Spain has recently implemented new regulations affecting short-term rental accommodations, including those listed on platforms like Airbnb. These measures aim to enhance transparency, combat illegal rentals, and address housing shortages in popular tourist destinations.

Royal Decree 933/2021: Effective December 2, 2024, Royal Decree 933/2021 mandates that all lodging providers in Spain collect and report detailed information about their guests to the Ministry of Interior. This includes personal identification details and specifics of the rental transaction. Hosts are required to:

Register their accommodation with the Ministry of Interior.
Collect guest information at check-in.
Maintain digital records of this data for three years.

Non-compliance can result in fines up to €30,000.
